Parish School of Religion

Growing in our Catholic Faith, centered on Jesus Christ.

REGISTRATION is now open for the 2024-2025 SCHOOL YEAR.

Program Information

Saint Paul the Apostle Parish School of Religion (PSR) is part of the educational arm of the parish community, responsible for providing religious instruction (known as catechesis), formation and sacramental preparation to children attending public or non-Catholic private schools.

Our goal as a faith formation community is to foster an environment for our students that teaches them about the Catholic faith, the important story of Christ, and how He impacts our everyday lives.

Faith formation begins in the home.  This year, our program will transition from a traditional PSR program to a more family-centered program for the 2024-2025 school year.  This approach will include modified in-person sessions and family faith formation at home or within the faith community.  This approach will provide for greater involvement of parents in their children’s faith formation by combining traditional classes with Family Faith education.

Students will benefit from this approach to develop their Catholic faith at home with their parents and through their catechists’ expertise in strengthening their knowledge and understanding of the Catholic faith during classes.  Families will be invited to develop a deeper understanding of our faith with their children, with time for parents and children to learn together.  Parents will work at home with their children to complete grade-level lessons when no formal classes are offered during the week.  Our PSR Office will provide these family sessions’ instruction, lessons and activities.  Parent sessions focusing on the Sacraments and other topics will be offered throughout the year.

PSR Classes - Kindergarten to 8th Grade

We offer 2 sessions which are on Wednesdays.  You only need to register for one session. The first session is from 4:45-6:00pm and the second session is from 6:45-8:00pm.

Sacrament Prep class

Students who have not begun Religious Education classes by Grade 3 will be entered into a program designed to be intensely focused on the Sacraments, Church history and Saints. This class is intended for those baptized Catholics who have never received formal religious formation, or students who are converting from another faith tradition.

PSR for Children with Special Needs

A Special Needs class for children is available on Wednesdays from 7:00-7:45pm. A parent/guardian or relative usually accompanies the student at class. This is a multi-age class for students who need more one on one support than can be provided in our typical PSR class of 15-20 students. A variety of materials and resources are included, and accommodations are made for the students as needed. Please contact the PSR office if you would like more information.
