Counseling Services

Spirit of Peace Counseling 

Catholic and Christian Counselors from Spirit of Peace Clinical Counseling offer professional counseling services on campus to Saint Paul parishioners and to our surrounding community. They have a dedicated office located in the Saint Paul parish office building, which is used only for counseling services, but are not directly employed by the parish. 

All counselors are licensed by the State of Ohio Counselor, Social Worker, Marriage and Family Therapist Board and combine standard clinical counseling practices with a Christ-centered approach to healing for clients who wish to incorporate their faith in the counseling process.  

Many health insurances are accepted, and self-pay options are available to those who do not have insurance.

Where to find Spirit of Peace 

On Saint Paul’s campus, Spirit of Peace Counseling is located in Parish Office Lower Level Room 4

To access this room, follow signs to the Parish Office building at the northeast corner of campus, located between Miller Hall and State Street. 

Enter the Parish Office building via the east doors facing State Street. Descend to the Lower Level of the building via the stairs or elevator. From the stairwell, go through the door to the right, follow the hall into the open lobby area, and proceed to Room 4 on the right. 


Meet the Counselors

Barb Moore, MA, LPCC  

Barb is approved by the State of Ohio Counselor, Social Worker, Marriage and Family Therapist Board as a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor. She received her Master of Arts in Professional Counseling from Liberty University, Master of Science in Management from Mount Vernon Nazarene University, and Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration. Barb has worked in both inpatient and outpatient behavioral health settings and has extensive experience in working with a diverse population of clients. Her passion is to come alongside clients on their journey to healing and self-awareness so that they can better navigate the challenges of life.

Barb enjoys spending as much time as she can with her daughter, son-in-law, and two grandsons. She enjoys cooking, time with friends and family, reading, and spending time in nature.


Jennie Statczar, MA, LPC 

Jennie is approved by the State of Ohio Counselor, Social Work and Marriage and Family Therapist Board as a Licensed Professional Counselor. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Applied Psychology from Franklin University and a Master of Arts degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Ashland Theological Seminary. Jennie is a member of the American Counseling Association. Jennie is entering the Professional Counseling field with experience as a business owner, teaching Early Childhood Development and working with school aged children. Jennie has an extensive background working with individuals and families with a family member with Autism Spectrum Disorder, adopted children, problem behaviors, and Attention Deficit Disorders. Jennie specializes in working with children age 4+ and up, adolescents, and their caregivers while also working with adults in many areas.

Jennie enjoys spending time with her family, and friends. She is an active parishioner of St. Andrew Church, where she is an Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion. Favorite activities include, reading, traveling, skiing, and relaxing on the beach.


Matthew Knox, MA, LPC 

Matthew is approved by the State of Ohio Counselor, Social Work, and Marriage and Family Therapist Board as a Licensed Professional Counselor. Matthew holds a Master’s Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Ashland Theological Seminary and a Bachelor’s Degree in History with a specialization in Early American History from The Ohio State University. He has a passion for helping others to heal and strengthen their lives especially from depression, anxiety, various spiritual and men’s issues, as well as through life transitions.

Matthew enjoys spending time with his friends and family. He roots for all Ohio sports teams, especially the Buckeyes! Matthew enjoys reading and writing in his spare time and also traveling whenever he gets the opportunity. 


Edward Luersman, MA, LPC

Edward has been approved by the State of Ohio Counselor, Social Work and Marriage and Family Therapist Board as a Licensed Professional Counselor. Edward holds a Master of Arts degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from The Ohio State University and entered the Professional Counseling field after several years working in the wholesale and retail plant nursery industry. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Plant Health Management from The Ohio State University.  He is passionate in offering support through counseling and helping clients to find hope, peace, and relief.  His central focus is helping individuals and couples through grief and loss, infertility, and miscarriage.

Edward has been happily married to his wife Kate since 2018. They are members of St. Mary Catholic Church in Delaware. In addition to spending time with Kate, family, friends, and his animal companions, Edward enjoys watching OSU football and his favorite movies and shows, gardening and spending time outdoors (especially at the beach!), and spending time in prayer, especially in the presence of the Most Blessed Sacrament.
