Parish School of Religion

Growing in our Catholic Faith, centered on Jesus Christ.

REGISTRATIONS WILL OPEN SOON FOR 2024-2025 SCHOOL YEAR.

Program Information

Saint Paul the Apostle Parish School of Religion (PSR) is part of the educational arm of the parish community, responsible for providing religious instruction (known as catechesis), formation and sacramental preparation to children attending public or non-Catholic private schools.

Parents are the primary religious educators of their children within the life of the family. This is supported by the promises made by the parents at the baptism of a child. PSR exists to support you in this important work, and it is our privilege to partner with you and your family. With the commitment of others, we provide the children and youth of our parish a nurturing environment to grow in relationship with Jesus Christ and as missionary disciples.

PSR Classes - Kindergarten to 8th Grade

We offer 2 sessions which are on Wednesdays.  You only need to register for one session. The first session is from 4:45-6:00pm and the second session is from 6:45-8:00pm.

Home Study

We offer Home Study for children in grades 1, 3, 4, 5, 6, & 7. As per our policy, we do not offer Home Study for grades 2 & 8, as there are additional sacrament preparations during these grades that are best accomplished in person. Please note a separate Home Study Application must be completed in addition to the PSR Student Registration Form.

Sacrament Prep class

Students who have not begun Religious Education classes by Grade 3 will be entered into a program designed to be intensely focused on the Sacraments, Church history and Saints. This class is intended for those baptized Catholics who have never received formal religious formation, or students who are converting from another faith tradition.

PSR for Children with Special Needs

A Special Needs class for children is available on Wednesdays from 7:00-7:45pm. A parent/guardian or relative usually accompanies the student at class. This is a multi-age class for students who need more one on one support than can be provided in our typical PSR class of 15-20 students. A variety of materials and resources are included, and accommodations are made for the students as needed. Please contact the PSR office if you would like more information.

Volunteer

As always, our program would not be possible without the assistance of many volunteers. Volunteers are eligible for tuition discounts. All materials and training are provided. If you are interested in volunteering, please complete the volunteer form (found below). Contact the PSR office at [email protected] if you have questions.
