Our St. Vincent de Paul Conference is once again very appreciative of the financial donations contributed by our parish members. Your generous giving makes it possible to assist the many families seeking help. Most of our calls are for rental and utility assistance. As rents continue to rise, many people are on the verge of eviction, often through no fault of their own. A medical issue, car accident, repair, or other unforeseen circumstance can quickly lead to falling behind on bills. Thank you for making it possible for these families to remain in their homes and maintain essential utilities like water and electricity. When we make these home visits and are able to provide assistance, families are deeply grateful and relieved.
This past month, we assisted a grandmother who has guardianship of three young grandchildren. She had $800 toward her rent but needed help with the remaining $1,000. We were able to contribute the full amount. Shortly after, the windstorm in Westerville caused her to lose power for two days, resulting in the loss of all her refrigerated and frozen food. She reached out for food assistance, and with a quick call to WARM, we were able to secure what she needed. Many times, WARM comes to our aid in helping a neighbor, and we assist them when they encounter a client in financial need. If WARM had not been able to help in this case, our conference would have stepped in to provide the necessary food.
As a reminder, there will not be a monthly pantry collection in April. We look forward to seeing you again in May.
