The Eucharist and the Courage to Witness

Ezekiel, exiled in Babylon, is instructed to perform a striking prophetic gesture: shouldering his baggage, digging through a wall, and setting out in darkness as the people watch. In doing so he foretells the coming exile of Jerusalem and the terrible fate of King Zedekiah, who refused the counsel of the prophets and would be captured, blinded, and taken in chains to die in prison.
