During the 2024 Lenten season, St. Paul the Apostle Church was blessed to be joined by Rev. Pawel Rytel-Andrianik, SSD, DPhil, Chief of the Polish section of the Vatican Radio and Vatican News, and a resident of the Vatican. Father Pawel was the preacher for our annual Parish Mission, titled “This is My Body.’

The Mission weekend began with Father Pawel preaching the Holy Mass on Sunday. In his homily, Father Pawel explained that the reason we come for the Mass each week isn't to hear the wisdom of a preacher, but to be in the real presence of Jesus Christ through the Eucharist.

The St. Paul Parish Mission officially kicked off with a talk Sunday night titled ‘Eucharistic Miracles in the 21st Century.’ During this talk, Father Pawel went into detail about two profound occurrences where the Eucharist visibly changed in ways that transcend ordinary understanding. These reported 'Eucharistic Miracles' serve as reminders of the Church's teachings on the real presence of Jesus in the Eucharist.

The Mission continued on Monday, when Father Pawel delved into the significance and profound gratitude for the Eucharist, emphasizing that the Mass represents not merely an event, but the presence of someone divine. He confronts the skepticism around the Eucharist, suggesting that without belief, the practice of Mass could be seen as mere theatrics, a waste of time, life, and resources. Father Pawel highlights the dedication and faith of the parish, evidenced by the construction of a beautiful church, underscoring the community's acknowledgment and reverence for the divine presence housed within.

On the final evening of the Parish Mission, Father Pawel discussed the connection between the Eucharist and the Sacred Heart of Jesus.

If Saint Paul lived today, he would be a journalist," said a German bishop, Wilhelm Ketteler, in the 19th Century. In the 21st Century, media activities are just vital for our Christian mission.
