St. Vincent de Paul is a worldwide organization that helps the poor with temporary or emergency needs. The goals of the Society’s members are to personally grow in holiness and to proclaim the good news of Jesus in word and deed by serving those in need directly through face-to-face interaction. Members seek to see the face of Christ in the people they serve with the hope that they will see Christ in us. We serve people who have lost their jobs, have limited incomes, and are having problems paying their rent, utilities or buying food. Members engage in person-to-person interaction to assess individual needs and provide assistance and referrals through our own outreach committees. Needs addressed include: employment assistance, elder-care, prescription assistance, home maintenance, transportation, substance abuse, hot meals, school involvement/intervention and referrals to and from other supporting organizations, like WARM/ Paul’s Pantry. There is a one-hour meeting on the 1st & 3rd Tuesday of every month at 7:00 pm in the Lower Level of the Parish Office Building.

SVDP treasurer Sue Fredelake shares how donations to SVDP are used.
