The landowner pays the same wage to the workers hired at dawn and the workers hired at the eleventh hour, and our instinct calls it unfair. But the parable is not about simple math. They all receive the same because they all receive everything, and no one can be paid more than everything. When we labor in the Lord's vineyard, the wage is Christ giving us his very self, and that is always more than enough.
