Jesus went into Jerusalem knowing exactly what was waiting for him there, and he went anyway, freely and out of love. In this homily for the 28th Sunday in Ordinary Time, we reflect on the parable of the wedding feast (Matthew 22:1–14) and its simple, challenging message: there is no discipleship without decision. God’s invitation is open to everyone, but it asks for a response, and that response isn’t made once. It is renewed again and again over a lifetime.
