What a difference a week makes. Last Sunday Peter was blessed for his profession of faith; this Sunday Jesus calls him Satan. Peter, thinking as human beings do, refuses to accept that the Son of God will suffer and die, and in that moment he becomes an obstacle to God's will. Then comes the teaching: whoever wishes to follow Jesus must deny himself and take up his cross.
