Growing in our Catholic Faith, centered on Jesus Christ.
Program Information
Saint Paul the Apostle Parish School of Religion (PSR) provides religious instruction, faith formation, and sacramental preparation to children attending public or non-Catholic private schools.
We strive to bring the Gospel of Jesus Christ to life by exploring various aspects of our faith through studying our Catholic core beliefs, the Catechism of the Catholic Church, scripture, sacraments, and the Saints. Participation in religious education every year is important in forming a foundation of faith.
PSR Classes – Kindergarten to 8th Grade
We offer 2 class sessions on Wednesdays from 4:45-6:00pm or 6:45-8:00pm, and also offer class on Sundays for 7th and 8th grades only from 3:30-4:45pm
Sacramental Preparation
First Reconciliation and First Communion
A child must participate in 2 years of religious education (typically 1st and 2nd grade) in order to receive the Sacraments of First Reconciliation and First Communion. Families with children entering first grade this fall should be sure to register their children for classes this year in order for their children to receive the Sacraments of First Reconciliation and First Communion in second grade.
Students in grades 3-8 who have been baptized but have not yet received First Communion will be enrolled in a Sacramental Prep class on Wednesdays from 6:45-8:00pm. This class will focus intensively on the Sacraments, Church history, and the Saints. They will prepare for and receive the Sacraments of First Reconciliation and First Communion.
Confirmation
Students in grades 7 and 8 will prepare to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation in spring of 2027. The 2 year requirement for Confirmation is being waived for the 2026-27 school year.
PSR for Children with Special Needs
A Special Needs class for children is available on Wednesdays from 7:00-7:45pm. A parent/guardian or other relative accompanies the student at class. This is a multi-age class for students who need more one on one support than can be provided in our typical PSR classes of 15-20 students. A variety of materials and resources are included, and accommodations are made for the students as needed. Please contact the PSR office if you would like more information.
Home Study
A home study option is available for students in grades 1 and 3-6. Students will complete lessons at home and submit online assessments as required. Students opting for home study may also be asked to complete additional activities throughout the year.
